5 ways to make your bed more inviting

Sleep. We all need it but some of us struggle more than others to get it. If you are a sleep struggler then you will want to do everything in your power to improve your sleep health. There are lots of different things that you can try, from change in diet to a new exercise regime. You can also turn your bedroom into the perfect sleep environment. One way of changing your sleep environment is making your bed more inviting. Here are 5 ideas that might help.

1. Get a new mattress
You spend an amazing one third of your life in bed and sleep is a central component in your physical and mental wellbeing so why would you sleep on anything but the best mattress? Getting a new mattress can make a huge impact on your sleep quality. Make sure you choose one that is both comfortable and supportive, you want to feel just as good getting up as you do getting in. A good quality mattress will  last for ten years, or three sleep years, so it really is worth spending some time finding the right one. Naturally of course we would recommend you purchase an Ergoflex Memory Foam Mattress for its comprehensive sleep and health benefits.

2. Get new pillows
Your pillows are also important, you need to make sure that they are cradling your head without bending the next too much. Many people have terrible pillows that are either too thick or thin, that are causing them allergies or are too old. Get a nice new pillow and you will find that you are sleeping far better than you were before.

3. Get the right doona
Your doona is an important part of your sleep as well. You need to make sure that you have the right doona for the conditions. Seasons change and so should your doona. You want one that keeps you the perfect temperature, which is around 20-21 degrees. When it gets cold you need a thicker doona, when it gets hot your need a thinner one. You can get doonas that come in two parts, you use a single part for summer and clip them together for winter.

4. Use essential oils during the wash
There are a number of essential oils that are great for helping you fall asleep, such as lavender oil. You can use this in your wash when you are cleaning your sheets and doona cover and the light scent that remains will help you drift off. Just make sure that you are using a good amount, start off with just a few drops and work out how much you need to get your sheets smelling good.

5. Use a support pillow
As well as the normal pillows you can also get a range of support pillows. These come in a variety of shapes including triangular and circular. They can help you get more comfortable in bed as you are able to use them to support your body. These are especially good for people with chronic pain, weight problems and women who are pregnant. Find a support pillow that will help you sleep through the night.
