Sleep is a normal part of life for most of us, something that we don’t think about that often because compared to the rest of our lives it is, let’s face it, pretty boring. It is a big non-event, you just lie there and nothing happens. While this is true for most of us, there are a significant number of people who dearly wish that sleep was that mundane, boring and, most importantly, easy for them. For some people, sleep, or rather the absence of sleep, is the bane of their life. They struggle to go to sleep, they struggle to stay asleep and they struggle to get back to sleep.
The effects of insomnia should not be underestimated. Even missing two nights of sleep is bad, but missing night after night is depressing and it can start to have a massive impact on your life.
The problem is that many of the ‘cures’ are as bad as the problem. Take sleeping pills. Sure they get you to sleep, but they are also addictive and many people struggle to sleep without their aid once they have used them.
That is why many people use calming music to help them get to sleep. It provides a distraction and has been scientifically proven to not only help people drift off, but to increase duration and quality of sleep.
So if you struggle with sleep, think about giving calming music a go.
