Pillow varieties

05-08-2012

As with anything these days, there seems to be a wide variety of pillow types on the market, so what are the major differences and which ones are the best for your sleep health?

Memory foam: the latest and greatest type of pillow is the memory foam pillow. This material has revolutionised the bedding and mattress industry as it is able to mirror the sleeper’s exact body shape and posture ensuring they have a supportive and comfortable sleep. Memory foam pillows help to keep the sleeper’s head and neck in the most comfortable position. They are also great for people with allergies as they are hypoallergenic.

Down: down pillows used to be the top end luxury pillow and they remain one of the more comfortable types of pillow. However, they degrade quite quickly and go from being buoyant and supportive to dense and uncomfortable relatively quickly. Also, they are bad for people with allergies.
