The Truth About Recommended Memory Foam Density

02-10-2011

Buying a bed is a big investment, which is why it makes sense to do your research beforehand. You want to get good value for money and, more importantly, you want to get a bed that suits you, one that is both comfortable and supportive, one that is good for your heath and one that gives you a good night’s sleep. Memory foam is the best mattress type on the market, hands down, but there are a wide variety of memory foam mattresses out there, so it pays to do your research first.

One of the key indicators with memory foam is density. In short, the more dense the memory foam the better the quality. A higher density memory foam is more supportive and has a better body moulding performance. Higher density memory foam mattresses will also last a lot longer than the inferior low density types.

The general density range for memory foam mattress range from 2 pounds through to about 6 pounds. It is recommended that you purchase at least a four-five pound density to get all the benefits of a memory foam mattress. Any less and you will not get the comfort and support you deserve and your mattress won’t last as long either.
