Bedroom colours for better sleep

19-02-2012

Your bedroom is your night time sanctuary, where you escape from the world each night to restore yourself with a rejuvenating night’s sleep. It is therefore important that your bedroom is as conducive to sleep as possible. That means making sure that it is a good temperature, that there is some airflow, it is not too noisy and, believe it or not, that it is painted the right colour.

That’s right, the colour of your bedroom affects the quality of your sleep. Colour and mood are intimately linked, a connection that has been known about since they started painting hospitals that moss green colour.

Light blue is considered the best colour for sleeping. People who sleep in light blue rooms not only fall asleep quicker but have more refreshing sleeps as well. Bright yellow is the best colour for people who struggle to wake up in the morning, not only making it easier but making them happier upon waking. Bright red is one of the worst colours for a room if you want to sleep, but is apparently one of the best colours to induce romance.

Next time you are painting your bedroom, it might pay to put some thought into how the colour you choose will affect the quality of your sleep.
