How sleeping can help you win at life

Do you want to win at life? Of course you do! There are a number of things that you can do that will help you get ahead, from making the right decisions about education to always embracing a networking opportunity, from working hard to always being open to new ideas. While most of these take hard work and dedication there is one that is quite a bit easier: sleep. Yes, sleeping can help you win at life!

We all want to do well in life, whether it is in our work or our relationship, whether it is with sport or in our hobby, we are all striving to be our best. There are a number of key qualities or methods for getting the most out of life. They are mostly the good old predictable: work hard, get a good education, stick with it, network etc. but what if we told you that one of the best ways of winning in life was also one of the easiest and most relaxing? Well here goes, did you know that sleeping can help you win in life? It can, so read on to find out how.

So how does this all work, what does it mean? It is quite simple, the more we have found out about sleep the more we have realised how vital it is for our physical and psychological wellbeing. In the past sleep was seen as a way to ‘recharge’ the batteries, but in the last decade or so we have discovered that it does way more than that. Sleep is critical for virtually every aspect of our being: it plays an important role in the regulation of our moods and emotions, it is key to the processing, storage and retrieval of memory, it is essential for cognitive function, it controls our appetite, it helps our body and brain regenerate and so much more.

By now you will be getting an idea of why sleep can help you win at life. The better quality sleep you get each and every night the better your brain and body will work, the better your memory recall will be, the better your coordination will be, the better your decision making skills will be, the faster you will heal, the longer your brain will stay plastic and nimble. There really is virtually no aspect of your life that is not positively affected by good sleep and negatively affected by bad sleep or lack of sleep.

It is no exaggeration to say that sleep is one of the central components of your cognitive, emotional and physical wellbeing. The better you sleep the more likely you are to succeed in life. It really is that simple. So important has sleep become that, based on these findings, many professional sports teams have reduced the hours of practice every day so that their members can get more sleep. A change that has had devastatingly good results for those early adopters.

If you want to get ahead, get to sleep now!
